Temperament testing is nothing new. I temperament tested my first litter 35 years ago. Since that time, I have done a lot of “tweaking” to the test - adding various exercises that I felt would be most accurate and helpful in pinpointing particular traits and abilities. The world of dog training continues to become better and more competitive. Trainers need to be able to start off with a puppy that has the talent and the personality to be competitive.
Just as importantly are the pet owners that comprise the vast majority of dog owning households. Picking the right pet for your family can be a very important task. This is a pet that will most likely be with your family for a long time. I have been asked by several noted breeders to temperament test their litters because they have acknowledged its value in placing puppies in homes that best suits the puppy’s personality.
I encourage you, before picking out your new puppy, to take the time to find out as much as you can about its character type and personality by utilizing this temperament test.
